Charm pins are larger safety pins, and while the needlepoint is much duller than a standard safety pin, it's important that you handle with care. These pins are not suitable for young children, and shouldn't be pinned to clothing that sits directly on the skin.

The pins can leave a small hole in garments made of thinner materials. Charm Pins are best suited for thicker materials like twill fabrics such as denim, chino, gabardine, drill, as well as canvas and thick wools.
